Sprouting into existence at the start of 2017, the Whomping Willows are one of Victoria’s newest quidditch clubs, and the first new community team since the South Melbourne Centaurs in 2014. Happy coincidence led to a mixture of both veterans and new players, all looking to make a move at the right time. Starting off with a small squad, the Willows’ aim is to foster a team environment of a competitive nature, full of respect for each other and all those that we face on the field, be they players or officials. The team encourages its players to try new things and branch out, playing in different positions, pushing ourselves past our comfort zones and into foreign territory. The Willows have high aspirations, valuing commitment and dedication, in the humble ambition for victory. The Whomping Willows are rife with excitement and cannot wait to see what they can bring to Australian quidditch in 2017 and beyond.
